Meva Energy joins the Swedish-German Cleantech Platform

In Insights by Elsa Kayser

Meva Energy has joined the Swedish-German Cleantech Platform, a one-year program supporting selected Swedish cleantech companies in their expansion to Germany.

We are one of nine companies chosen for this year’s cohort. Over the coming months, the platform brings us together as a Swedish cleantech cluster and provides a clear path forward – from a shared kickoff and a defined yearly plan to delegations to Germany, including Berlin, where we meet potential partners and customers face to face.

What is the Swedish-German Cleantech Platform (SGCP)?

The Swedish-German Cleantech Platform is an accelerator built to help Swedish cleantech companies take real steps into the German market. It’s run jointly by the Swedish Energy Agency and the German-Swedish Chamber of Commerce, and funded by the Swedish Energy Agency.

The program brings together innovative Swedish scale-ups and small and medium-sized companies whose solutions support a 100% fossil-free energy society. The companies operate across areas such as renewable energy, energy and resource efficiency, smart cities and buildings, and circular solutions like waste management and recycling. What they share is readiness: mature technologies and a clear ambition to grow internationally, with Germany as a key market.

Over the course of a full year, the platform combines market insight with hands-on support. That includes networking, structured activities and direct exposure to the German innovation landscape – all aimed at helping companies understand how the market works, where demand exists, and how to build momentum that lasts beyond a first introduction.

The importance of SGCP

Germany is Europe’s largest industrial economy, Sweden’s arguably most important trading partner, and a country where the energy transition is already reshaping how factories, infrastructure and supply chains work. For cleantech companies, that makes Germany both a huge opportunity and a hard market to enter alone.

The main purpose of the Swedish-German Cleantech Platform is to lower that barrier. It replaces cold outreach with warm introductions, generic market reports with local insight, and scattered meetings with a clear, shared roadmap. Instead of each company knocking on the door by itself, the platform creates a coordinated Swedish presence that German partners can actually understand and engage with.

What this opportunity means for Meva Energy

Joining the Swedish-German Cleantech Platform is a concrete step in Meva Energy’s expansion into Germany (and the world in the long run). It gives us local context, direct access and a clear framework for turning interest into projects.

Germany is a key market for renewable industrial energy. Energy-intensive industries face high costs, supply risk and stricter climate requirements, which is exactly where Meva’s fossil-free BioSyngas is a perfect fit. The platform also connects us with other Swedish cleantech companies, strengthening our positioning and long-term presence in the German market.

The companies in the program

This year’s Swedish-German Cleantech Platform cohort brings together a diverse set of Swedish cleantech innovators, each with a clear mission and technology that can make a difference in Germany’s energy transition. All are part of a group selected to scale to the German market with structured support, mentoring and business-to-business engagement.

Here’s a snapshot of the companies in the 2026 SGCP group:

  • Helios Innovations – builds and operates modular systems for on-site treatment of highly contaminated industrial liquid waste.
  • Modvion – accelerates renewable wind energy with wind turbine towers built from renewable materials.
  • NanoScientifica – tackles reproducibility in nanomaterials using automated flow chemistry for consistent production.
  • Ngenic – offers AI-driven digital services that make energy use smarter and more efficient for homes, buildings and energy systems.
  • Aurora by Sigholm – provides a cloud-based SaaS platform for planning, optimization and follow-up of district heating and energy production.
  • Smoltek – uses unique nanotechnology to significantly reduce critical material needs in hydrogen PEM electrolyzers.
  • Westra Materials – develops high-performance, PFAS-free conductive polymers for sustainable electronics.
  • Yangi – focuses on sustainable fiber-based packaging solutions for global markets.

… and Meva Energy of course!

The kickoff: setting the direction for 2026

The program kicked off on January 27, with all participating companies meeting for the first time. No sales decks, no chest-beating. The focus was alignment: why the platform exists, who’s in the room, and where we’re heading together in 2026.

The day was hands-on. We walked through how the program works, what support is available, and how to use it to gain real traction in Germany. Nine companies, different backgrounds and technologies, one shared ambition: entering the German market. Through short pitches and open discussions, early connections formed and overlaps started to surface.

We also zoomed out to the market itself. The Swedish Embassy in Germany shared a clear-eyed view of Germany – full of opportunity, but not without friction. Established players like Vattenfall, along with alumni companies, added perspective from those who’ve already been there.

But this is just the starting line! We’re looking forward to all the upcoming events and collaborations.
